About this work
Courage to Be Gentle is a reflective and experiential workshop created for people who feel emotionally exhausted, self-critical, or stuck in patterns of pushing through.
Drawing on compassion, attachment theory, and gentle relational practices, the workshop offers space to slow down, notice how the nervous system responds to stress and burnout, and explore kinder ways of relating to yourself. Central to this work is recognising the inner critical voice, not as something to silence or fight, but as a voice that may once have been protective, and learning how to respond with understanding and self-compassion.
The workshop helps participants notice and understand how they see themselves and how they believe others see them, without needing to change who they are. Through reflection and gentle group facilitation, they learn to respond to themselves with trust, compassion, and acceptance, recognising that they are already enough.
It also supports post-burnout growth, an empowering perspective inspired by post-trauma and grief growth models, helping participants recognise the potential to rebuild and strengthen after challenging experiences.
While there is increasing discussion about burnout among people on the autism or ADHD spectrum, this workshop is designed for anyone experiencing burnout, including those whose exhaustion comes from life stress, trauma, or childhood adversity, and anyone seeking a gentle, reflective approach to recovery and self-care.
This workshop is not a replacement for therapy. It offers a facilitated reflective group experience to support awareness, self-compassion, and post-burnout growth, but it does not provide individual therapeutic treatment.
This is not about fixing or forcing change. It is about creating enough safety to pause, reflect, and begin to soften patterns that may once have been necessary but are no longer helpful. Participants also receive optional handouts and reflective resources, for example, a simple 5-step guide to noticing and supporting yourself when burnout or compassion fatigue arises.

What the workshop offers
Participants are invited into a small, supportive group space to explore:

Understanding burnout and stress through the lens of the nervous system

Compassion as a learned, relational capacity

Recognising and responding to the inner critic with self-compassion

Gentle reflective and experiential exercises

Space for personal reflection and insight, often supported by group discussion
The emphasis throughout is on safety, choice, and pacing. While the focus is gentle, some participants may notice thoughts or reflections that feel challenging, this is part of thoughtful, post-burnout growth.
