About Me - Alison Huckle,
Achla Counselling and Supervision

Enhancing Lives Through Care
I'm Alison (Ali/Al) Huckle, a qualified Integrative Counsellor and MBACP (reg) practitioner. I completed my Foundation Degree in Counselling in 2018, topped up to an Honours Degree in 2019.
In 2020 I trained in couples counselling, and in 2025 completed a Diploma in Supervision. I work with individuals, couples, and other professionals. Offering, in-person in Bracknell, Berkshire, and an online service for those living further away.

My Journey

I was drawn to counselling through my own journey of self-discovery. Growing up with a parent struggling with alcohol shaped how I related to myself and others. Counselling helped me make sense of those experiences, and now I provide the same safe, supportive space for my clients, one where you can feel seen, heard, and supported without judgement.

Why ACHLA?

The name ACHLA comes from the initials of my family, those who have grounded me. In Hindi, Achla also means "earth" symbolising constant, stability and presence. These qualities of steadiness, grounding, and empathy are at the heart of every session I offer.

My Approach
At the heart of my practice is the therapeutic relationship itself, the space where healing can happen. I work integratively, drawing on
-
PetrÅ«ska Clarkson’s Five Relationship Model
-
Person-Centred, Psychodynamic, Gestalt, Attachment based, and Transpersonal approaches
-
Modern, compassion focused CBT techniques, which help build resilience and self-acceptance
I draw on transpersonal approaches, which focus on meaning, connection, and personal growth. For some people this might include exploring the sense of something bigger than themselves, it can also be about finding deeper purpose and balance in life. This can include themes such as presence, acceptance, reflection, and forgiveness. Qualities I bring into my work alongside grounded, evidence based practice.
Whether you are navigating anxiety, grief, trauma, burnout, or relationship challenges, I offer a warm, steady and non-judgemental space to explore your experiences and reconnect with yourself.
For couples, I provide relational work to support better communication, understanding and connection.
For fellow counsellors, I offer professional supervision, providing a reflective space to enhance your practice. Supervision sessions can be tailored from 30 – 90 minutes depending on your needs.

A personal note.
I would like to share something personal about my work as a therapist.

Being a therapist doesn't make us immune to struggle, and therapy isn't ever a straight line, it can be messy, human, and sometimes hard. I've needed therapy too, and more than once, choosing to work with different people to help my own journey.

My own experience of burnout shaped how I understand healing, self-compassion, and the inner critical voice. It taught me that there is no shame in needing support, and that healing doesn't have to be forced or rushed to be meaningful.

I share this because I believe therapy works best when it's rooted in honesty, gentleness, and shared humanity.
